Athlete on the verge of losing for defaulting bank loan.
Sammy Kipketer, a former Kenyan international long-distance runner has suffered a blow after Eldoret court instructed him and his wife to stop collecting rent from his two-story building in the town’s CBD.
Sammy was given the order by justice Ogola concerning the Kibargoi building which the athlete lay claim to. Mr Kipketer gave out the title deed for the building to a local bank as a grantee for an 80million loan to Prayosha Ventures.
The couple had jointly sought court redress in their bid to reclaim the office block five years ago. Beatrice Kipketer claims her husband guaranteed the loan without her consent although the building was a matrimonial asset.
The judge warned the couple to obey the court orders or they would be cited for contempt if they fail to do so. The case will be mentioned again on 5th November to confirm whether the couple obeyed the ruling concerning rent collection.
